PART 1 GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

A. Section Includes: The following specifies floor mats of the following types:

1. Heavy commercial carpet matting.



2. Heavy commercial carpet tiles.

1. Section 03300 - Cast-in-Place Concrete: Recessing slabs to receive floor mats [and installation of mat frame.]

1.02 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer’s product data and installation instructions. Include materials, finishes, required substrate preparation and accessories.

B. Samples: Submit representation samples of each material that is to be exposed in the completed work. Show full color ranges available.

C. Shop Drawings: Provide detailed plans, required clearances and accessories. Include relationship with adjacent materials.

D. Test Reports: Copies from an accredited independent test laboratory, for flammability and coefficient of friction (anti-static) test reports.

1.03 DELIVERY, HANDLING AND STORING

A. Products delivered in factory labeled packages.

B. Handle and store in strict compliance with manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations.

C. Protect from damage from weather, excessive temperatures, and construction operations.

1.04 REFERENCES

A. ASTM E-648 - NFPA 253 - Critical Radiant Flux - Flammability.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Qualifications: Manufacturer shall have a minimum of 7 years documented experience producing products specified in the following section.

B. Code Compliance: Products shall comply with applicable codes including OSHA and ADA, for example.

C. Provide all products in the following section from one source.

2.02 CARPET MATTING

A. Carpet Matting: 100% solution dyed polypropylene containing the following styles and characteristics:

1. Champion: Berber, 1/2 inch thick with composite "safety track" rubber backing, [charcoal] [chocolate] [beige] [silver gray] [azure] [oceanic] [crystal] color.



2. Commander: Berber, 3/8 inch thick with composite "safety track" rubber backing, [charcoal] [coffee] [taupe] [jade] [pewter] color.



3. Atlas: Fine ribbed, 3/8 inch thick with composite "safety track" rubber backing, [charcoal] [chocolate] [beige] [jade] [grey] color.



4. Cougar: Two and two rib configuration, 1/2 inch thick with composite "safety track" rubber backing, [charcoal] [chocolate] [beige] [jade] [grey] color.



5. Jaguar: Two and two rib configuration, 3/8 inch thick with composite "safety track" rubber backing, [charcoal] [wild rice] [silver grey] [cobalt] [jupiter] [red] color sea green color.



6. Hercules: Four and two rib configuration, 3/8 inch thick with composite "safety track" rubber backing, [charcoal] [chocolate] [beige] [silver grey] [azure] [emerald] [claret] [wild berry] color.



7. Type of adhesive for installation: As recommended by manufacturer.

2.03 CARPET TILES

A. Carpet Tiles: 100% solution dyed polypropylene (permafreshTM) containing the following characteristics:

1. Dominator Tile: diagonal rib, 19-3/4 by 19-3/4 by 1/2 inches, bitumen backing, [anthracite] [mid gray] [fjord blue] [ocean green] [mulberry] color.



2. Carefree Tile: plush velour, 19-3/4 by 19-3/4 by 3/8 inches, bitumen backing, with permafreshTM fiber, [oatmeal] [midnight] [plum] [steel] [anthracite] [bluebell] color.



3. Olympian Tile: berber19-3/4 by 19-3/4 by 3/8 inches, bitumen backing, [charcoal] [terra cotta] [ash] [sand] [earth] [stormy blue] [lichen] [terrazzo] color.



4. Type of adhesive for installation: As recommended by manufacturer.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 PREPARATION

A. Examine substrates and conditions where floor mats will be installed. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions are met. Further, sub floor should be clean and dry, and within acceptable tolerance levels before proceeding with installation.

3.02 INSTALLATION

A. Must comply with installation instructions and recommendations provided by manufacturer. To ensure proper clearances, prevent tripping hazards, and edge curling, coordinate installation with other adjacent work.

B. Instruct/train owner’s staff in proper maintenance procedures.

3.03 CLEANING AND PROTECTION

A. Clean and protect exposed surfaces using methods recommended by manufacturer in the cleaning and protecting brochure. This will ensure product lasting in accordance to warranty.
